Will Mazda 6 17" Rims with 215/60R17 tires fit a Protege 5?

I just picked up a set of Mazda 6 rims/tires and Im wondering if they will fit on my protege. I know the bolt pattern is the same, but will the tire fit without rubbing issues?

Tires are 215/60R17's

Nope. The diameter of the tires is too big - they'll hit the strut spring platforms. 205/50R17 e.g. would be about the max, and the speedo would still be several mph low.

225/45r17 (not sure the offset) clear the strut (by <1/4") on my wifes car but just barely touched the inside of the fenders at full compression. so they came back off

215/60r17 are HUGE compared to that.

The wheels will fit without issue. The tires won't fit, as stated above.
