Broken reverse camera update, tailgate needs to be removed

Got the call from the dealer for to fix the reverse camera. They say they have to remove the tailgate to do it and that it will be a 2-3 hour process...
Going to ask if they are sure if they can't just work with the camera.
I'm worried that if they remove it there will be water leakage issues and my safety being compromised if there was to be a rear-end collision...
But I guess if that's their way of fixing it then let it be (rolleyes)

Why does removing the camera require removing the tailgate? I don't understand. ..

Probably ment they need to remove the inside covering of the tailgate. I wouldn't be concerned.

Just sent it to dealer
They have to remove it from the inside, the trim and all that, apparently this is a very common problem according to the tech esp. in colder climates, hence the 2-4 week waiting period in Canada

Interesting, about colder climates...

Anybody know exactly what is occuring, and what is being repaired?

Got it it fixed, they had to remove the interior trim to get to the camera and plug in the new one
Tech. didn't say much, he just told me it actually was a very common problem up north.
