Went to a window tinting shop. Texas state law (and many other states) says "Sunscreening devices must be applied above the AS-1 line." Where is the AS-1 line on CX-5 windshield? I cannot see one.
The state law also says "If there is no AS-1 line, sunscreening devices must end five inches below the top of the windshield." I assume that this 5 inches includes the dox matrix at the edge of the glass. But it is unclear the 5-inch measurement is taken at the center of the windshield (where the rear view mirror is) or at the left and right edges. Because the windshield is curve from left to right, the left and right edges will have greater tint height than the center. The dot matrix behind the rear view mirror is exactly 5 inches from the top edge of the windshield. If I stick a eyebrow tinting firm 5 inches at the center, it will be about 6.5 or 7 inches at he left or right edges.
Does anyone ever stopped by police because of window tint, and why?
