Don't need something to tell me that my car is running 'fine'
 
The OBDII port does stay energized w/o key in ignition, but so long as it is a device that draws minimal current, it shouldn't be an issue.
There's tons of these apps, with BT OBDII devices cropping up now. Can't comment on this one, but several look like pretty decent real-time monitoring devices, especially for folks just curious about in what condition their engine is operating, in addition to the ability to troubleshoot isses...

Well hopefully Cobb develops a version of the AP for the CX-5. I imagine them doing so for the 2.2D though.
