What have you done to your CX-5 today?

The further pursuit of bling. Yes, for the eagle eyed people like CD, those are fingerprint smudges. I need to use some extra double sided tape under the piece around the shifter so I will do the final cleanup after that.

The blue overlay for the volume got a little stuck and I had to wiggle it back up to get it to rotate again and allow mute / unmute.

I need to find a small magnet to stick to the Orange TPMS monitor so that i can have it stay in place and in eyesight on the top of the shifter overlay.

Ebay is a dangerous place to type in "Mazda cover". LOL

Hmm, nice ... I have been thinking of getting a protection for that console around the gear because they get scratch easily by metal objects like keys and coins. Thinking of getting this one ... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B078884SB4/

Hows the fit on yours btw? Is it solid? It goes on the top right, without removing the original cover?

No need to remove anything, they just fit on top of the existing. The bottom one fits snuggly, no additional double-sided tape needed. The upper one needs additional tape to hold it down properly, but I could just be lazy and leave it as it is. If they get scratched up or I just don't like them, I can pull them off and the pristine original condition. The fact that a magnet should hold stuff on them is also a bonus.

And I noticed last night that the EPB button has a gap in front of it just begging for grunge to accumulate.

Do you have a link for that console cover, and do you know if the same ones are available for the door sills surrounding the window controls? This piano black finish scratches and smudges soooooooo dam easy. Its brutal. Should have known, because my parents had an '09 Fusion with Piano Black dash pieces and they always complained about it. Hahaha.

I can post the link when I get home. Otherwise, if you search "mazda cx5 cover" on Ebay you'll find loads of blingifaction.

And yeah the listing says aluminum tho I think it may be steel. A magnet will prove me either right or wrong.

My CX5

Had this for a few weeks now, 2017 CX-5 GT. Tinted windows, added roof rails, blacked out chrome. Still unsure if I want to keep the front chrome black or not. Think thats about it for a while. Really enjoying the vehicle.

I thought for sure when I bought mine I was gonna black out the chrome trim, but it's grown on me. It's like just enough without being too much; gives it a classy look and feel.

I did however order new interior LEDs and License Plate LEDs for it.

6500K for the License lights; figured that 6000K would be a little too "white" to match the existing LEDs for the reverse and headlights, probably could have even went with a 7000k if I could have found it, but we'll see how well 6500K works.
6000K for the interior, as anything higher than that is too "blue" for interior lighting, I find it kind of hard on the eyes after crystal white inside.

I think next on the list once these arrive will be a 2" hitch receiver and hitch so I can get started on transporting building materials to my land this spring/summer. And also glovebox and console light strips, because I hate not being able to see in there. I'll just have them hooked up to the 9V outlet power I'd say so they'll come on and stay on once the car is turned on; not like you'll see them with the covers closed anyway, and they should shut off when the car does, which is perfect.

Looks good.
What percent are your front windows?

Thanks! Front windows are 5%. We went darker with the back windows and the rear windows, then matched the front to them.

Pretty extreme. I think I'd go for that in FL, too!
No worries about the fuzz?

Not too worried about the police. They cant pull you over just for the tint, but can add that ticket to others. Worst case I have to rip it off and go legal. It is dark, and takes getting used to, especially since my last car didnt have tint lol.

Blacked out chrome looks very nice with the gray color. Have been tinkering with the idea of doing that to my Sonic Silver. What did you use? Plasti-dip? Vinyl? Tape?

Used 3m matte black vinyl on the sides. Was going to try to use that on the grill, but after messing with it around some corners decided to take the easy way out and plastidip it and put some glossifier on top to give it some sheen.

I actually thought you had the front grille piece painted to match the body from the picture. Hahaha. Looks good either way.

I had tint on my front windows last car I had, probably gonna do them again once the summer hits, but 5% is asking for a ticket here. They don't seem to bother you for 18% SUV tint on the front or lighter around here. I went 18% front and back on the last car, but I'll probably go 18% front and then get an 18% film over the already tinted windows in the back as well. So whatever that'll be. Hahaha.

Did a great job, thanks for sharing pics. Wished you were in TX instead of FL.... although the 5% tint on front windows would get you in trouble here ;)
