Hello, second post here. I have a question about 2007 M5 power steering unit. Is it electric motor driven? or pulley driven? I haven't peaked under the hood yet (just bought the car) but while i was driving it I noticed that when I killed the car (as it was rolling down hill (i know what i'm doing)) and restarted it by putting it into gear, power steering never kicked in. Even after I restarted the car with the starter (while it was rolling), but it did kick in as soon as I tried to turn the steering wheel more than a quarter turn.
I figured it was either electric motor driven and needed to sense load to kick in or that it had some clutch solenoid on the pulley.
