The CX-5 LED Lighting Thread

A lot of your questions are freaking rhetorical and have been answered repetitively... Yes, that includes almost every post you have made. Please start reading posts so you don't have to ask these rhetorical questions. Those DRL's are fine.

Oh no problem. Just keep your heads up on posts as many questions can be answered by scrolling a few pages or searching.

First of all, thank you guys for valuable info!

I'm looking into installing switchback turn signals and it seems that Vleds are a good choice to do that.

My only concern is the installation. Can anyone shed any light on how complicated (or easy) the installation
process will be? (Including resistor) Do I need to cut or drill anything or is it pretty much plug and play..?

Any pdf's on the subject?

Thanks again.

Installing the LED's DRL and Signals themselves will take no longer than 2 minutes total. Granted they are not VLED Tritons. Resistors should be used with wire crimps so they are easily done, reversible, and guaranteed a solid connection.

Remember, ideally 50W 6ohm for total of 2 LED signals, or 50W 3ohm for 4 LED signals.

Since seeing your switchbacks, I've been doing some research on the easiest and cheapest (so no Tritons) way to get non-hyper switchbacks. I have had some bad experiences in the past using crimp resistors and I came across these:

I haven't bought it yet, but I think I will go this route when it comes to adding a resistor. Just thought I would post this as an FYI for the unaware.

Given a properly made and installed resistor set up. That includes a quality resistor of given watt and ohm choice, gauge of wires, crimp sized correctly, and mounted on a suitable surface. There's no way to get around resistors when using an LED.

technically there is,
if the car uses a separate plug in mechanical blinker unit you could replace it with an all electronic one that wont be affected by the reduced impedance of the leds

So almost 100% of my knowledge of replacing bulbs, stems from this thread. If I wanted to replace the bulbs on my GS, would these be the correct bulbs? Would I need to buy anything else for it or do I just pop them in?

In the first post, it mentions "9005" for the non tech so that's kinda my first guess.

LED lights are not bright enough for headlight, best way is to stick with stock or go with HID.

This is what I was looking for and disappointed since others have said HID does not perform well in non-GT housing. So now I have to look for a regular bulb that looks like 4500-5000k.

Figure I'd post these up. I made these for someone. I think he's on this site. Those rear reflectors in the rear bumper, well they don't light up at all, so I made them light up. Made some custom LED modules:

Hopefully I can get some installed on the car pics soon.

Love the way this looks, can you tell me how much you charge for the lower bumper reflector conversion? thanks

Got them LED's running on the interior, and using them as DRLs.
But frankly, the DRL's aren't even close to being bright compared to the oem halogens. I might re-consider and install tinted blue halogens as my DRL's rather than the LEDs.

The one showing in the pic is with the high beams turned on. Turned off, it would be 75% dimmer.

Kind of cheesy...but looking for "pink" license plate led lights. Haven't been able to find any yet, suggestions?...although I say "I" or "we" bought a new car...it's really hers ;P

Hey guys, been reading all of the lighting threads and posts but had a question before I made the purchase.

In regard to interior lighting..
I was probably going to buy the CS Led kit but someone had mentioned the lights flicker when they dim after the door is shut. Is this true for all LEDs? If not, I may chose another option on where I buy.

Second: Going to buy iJdm Crees for both DLR and Fog Lights. But there are two type of Crees:

Fog Lights:
These http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Max-50W-H8-H11-High-Power-CREE-LED-Fog-Lights-p/sku346.htm
Or These http://store.ijdmtoy.com/CREE-High-Power-SMD-H11-H8-H9-LED-Bulbs-p/sku-4q.htm

Suggestions on which to chose? Looking for a light that looks oem w/hid.

The DLR Lights I plan to buy also have two options(Although it says Camaro, I was under the impression they for our vehicles. I have '14 Touring w/tech):

These http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Chevy-Camaro-Mazda-CX-5-Toyota-Highlander-P13W-LED-p/sku-4y.htm
Or These http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Chevy-Camaro-High-Power-Fog-Lights-p/p13w-led-fog-light-4w.htm

Sorry, just wanted some advice before I made the purchase tomorrow. Thanks

my interior leds i got from superbrightleds.com and i dont have any flickering issues when they dim down, at least not that i've noticed

and yes, the regular camaro p13w is the bulb you want to get, not the cx5 one from jdm, personally i dont think cree's are a good choice, its been documented that those bulbs get dimmer after running for a lil while because they dont have adequate heat sinks and they aren't meant to run for extended periods of time, so why spend the extra money when the standard p13w camaro ones work well and stay consistant
