Light switch replacement

I am trying to replace my light switch on my 2010 M3 iTouring and have removed the two philips screws from underneath but there is no separation in the two halves to be able to remove the top to access the switch. If anyone has taken the steering cover off it would be much appreciated if you could give me some insights on how to do so...thanks in advance!

Ok, i figured out how to separate the two halves of the steering column cover...there are 2 pins and 2 clips on each side of the cover! What i was able to to do was to insert a very thin plain screw driver just above the light switch and the cover and basically gently pry the top half upwards. it separted with little effort then did the same thing on the other side with the wiper control and it popped up. once the top cover came off it was easy to get to the light switch to change it out...
