Clunking sound from the front of the car

Has anyone noticed a "clunking sound" coming from the front-right side of the car when going over speed bumps? I'm guessing it's coming from the suspension but I'm not 100% sure yet.

Just had this happen to me two days ago, sounded like a loose strut, but could not seem to find anything out of sorts when I looked. Also had a clunk when I accelerated on wet pavement with some wheel spin while turning left, guess the dealer will have to look at this.

After 4400 miles on all kinds of bad roads I haven't noticed any squeaks, rattles or clunks.
In fact, this is one of the most solid feeling cars I've ever driven. Feels like it's carved out of a single chunk of billet.

(hmm)

I had same problem on my CX-5 thought it was suspension or strut issue. It really bugged me going over bump roads, speed bumps, etc. I found this TSB and dealer performed the service and problem has been corrected. Mine turned out to be the A-pillar listed below. All is quiet now.

TSB 09-009/12
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2013 CX-5 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3KE******128359 (produced on or before June 1, 2012)

DESCRIPTION
While driving over rough or bumpy roads, some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the instrument panel and/or a creak noise from the A-pillar.

Rattle Noise From Instrument Panel:
This noise may be caused by low cowl panel mounting bolt torque. The bolt torque control and inspection has been improved during the mass-production of vehicles with VINs JM3KE******107376 (produced February 10, 2012) or higher.

Creak Noise From A-Pillar:
This noise may be caused by two joined panels scraping together at the A-pillar. The panel weld areas have been improved during the mass-production of vehicles with VINs JM3KE******128359 (produced June 1, 2012) or higher.

FWIW, I had the same issue.
The dealer applied torque to driver's side upper control arm bolt(s), which resolved the issue.

I have an early build - # 2944

I just got my CX5 back from the dealer... there was a "clunk" noise coming from underneath when going over even just slightly bumpy roads. After a day of diagnostics they found one of the engine mounts was bad and replaced it... no more clunking now... I hope it's just an isolated case... I don't think an engine mount should be going bad after only 11k miles!

I have experienced the same and am wondering about the engine mounts too.

Hi there,

Appreciate if you could send me the service guide. I am in Vietnam, driving a GT and experience the same problem everyday with the bumpy and pothole road here. My email is Koliadang@yahoo.com.

I had the TSB's above completed, and a month or so later had a loud thump when turning left in the rain from a stop. There was nothing in the road as best I could tell, and I replicated the issue later (still on a wet road), turns out with the traction control off, the issue went away. It looks like the TCS grabs the brakes hard enough to make a clunk in the suspension. Just my experience on this.
