Mazda Protege ES 2003
Hey guys,

I have been roaming on the forums here for a while and I thought that I could post a build thread about my car. Its not as crazy as others and I wont be able to update it everyday since I'm on a very tight student budget lol.

The story behind the car... The car was my dad/mom daily driver every since they bought it from Mazda. They got themselves a new Honda Civic 2012 and they sold me this car for 4000$...

It currently has 45 000KM on it (~28 000 miles) which is amazing for a car that is over 10 years old! It has almost no rust, except for the driver side front wheel area where the factory mudflap was. I will probably be changing that part next summer knowing that it probably will start chipping the paint off in the super salty roads here in Quebec.

Other than that, the car runs like new, and looks like new :p

My current mod list is as follows:

-Kicker 500.1 AMP 500watts
-JBL P1222 1200watts

That is pretty much it for now... I will be posting more pictures as I advance in my project. Its getting cold here in Quebec and I do not have a closed garage :(

Any suggestion or any other feedback is very much appreciated :)

So today I installed my oem upper strut bar. What a pain in the ass... I bought the one with the cruise control brackets but when I installed it, I couldn't figure out how the mount the cc module. Tried to make it fit for at least an hour but nothing...

I ended up using two L brackets to ghetto rig it haha. I hope it holds up.

Pics to come soon.

As promised, pictures of the strut bar.

Exactly what I have been thinking. But I can't find any oem ones, and the only one I found was busted in half and the guy was asking 400$... They seem to be so rare and hard to find :(

easier to get a P5 bumper and paint it :)

Are you going to paint the lip kit and spoiler eventually?

It's amazing it has such low km's, im jealous!!

Haha, i know right. No one believes me when i tell them the kms on the car :p

And for the bumper, i have thought about that, but im not a big fan of cutting the protection foam thingie, if u understand what i mean.

And yes, i do want to get the whole car painted next summer if my revenue allows it. A decent paint job here is 3000$...

If your talkign about the bumper support behind the bumper cover, you dont have to cut anything just get the bumper reinforcement from a p5/msp/mp3 or see if anyone wants to trade front ends. A buddy has a sedan like yours and another had a P5 and they swapped bumpers. Ask a P5 guy or post a thread saying you want to swap bumpers and supports yall just either ship to each other or maybe find a local or atleast close enough to drive to do the swap. Thats whay I would do, chances are you arent gonna find a lip and if you do its not going to be cheap.

^ yup thats what i did found a local to do a swap since he was selling his car and got the rebar too.

Give it a shot since its very rare to see a sedan front lip. I've only seen 1 for sale and it was gone pretty quick

Oh okay. So that white foam thing can be removed huh?
Cause i know someone that is selling a p5 bumper for 50$. I just need to get the p5 rebar also to make it fit.

Are the foglights plug and play with my connectors?

Thanks to you guys, i will be getting my hands on that freaking super rare oem sedan front lip :). Cant wait haha.

Also, since i have removed my third brake light to replace it with the spoiler, im left with a hole in my rear deck. Any ideas on how to "close" that gap?
