Odometer reading - how to

I have just purchased a new CX-5 and I want to see how many total kilometers it has done? The manual gave me the impression it was the trip meter selector that steps through to the total odometer display but it did not do that. I telephoned the the sales people and they gave me the same impression, but the trip meter selector situated between and above the speedometer and info dial only selects between trip "A" and trip "B" displays.

Am I doing something wrong or is the trip meter selector not doing it's job correctly?

Welcome to the forum! The odometer is the one right below the trip indicator. It's hard to notice at first with a new car as the number is so low. The odometer is always displayed.

Does yours look like mine? Here's a picture.

I didn't see the odometer straight off either. As Bcdad182 says, the odometer is displayed just below the trip display (type A) and isn't obvious until the miles/kilometres build up a bit.
