Just got my car scanned for CEL
came out with a p0455, or large evap leak...
Is there any way I can fix this myself or try things before I take it to the garage?

would changing the EGR with a new unit would solve the problem?

Check the gas cap.

from the shop manual for P0455:

POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Purge solenoid valve malfunction
• Canister drain cut valve (CDCV) malfunction
• Loose, missing or defective fuel filler cap
• Charcoal canister malfunction
• Catch tank malfunction
• Check valve malfunction
• Rollover valve malfunction
• Cracked fuel tank
• Fuel tank component parts poorly installed
• EVAP hose damaged or loose
• Fuel tank pressure sensor malfunction

my first hit at the list would be the gas cap.

gas cap like they said if not get underneath it and check the hoses you can see at the back

oh god if its that im totally retarded.....
i screw it on tight tho every time and have had this CEL for a long time

Check for any disconnected vacuum hoses. That was my issue. If you can't find the issue, you can get a shop to smoke the system. It's about $50-70.
