CX-9 Grand Touring 2011
Hello,

I was wondering if the 2011 CX9 Grand Touring has some kind of advice that schedule maintenance is due, like a light or written notice on the dashboard? All the cars I owned for the last 10 years (Audi, BMW, Mini, Toyota, Honda, etc) has some sort of warning that the car is due for scheduled maintenance. I have owned my CX9 for close to 8 months now and there is nothing telling me that oil should be changed or maintenance is due

Is the CX9 this simple that we have to count the months and the miles like a 1990's car?

Thanks

Charly:

No warning light on CX9 for maintenance.
You go by mileage and "light/heavy" use of your CX9.

If you don't have an OM (owners' manual), you can download one (legal copy)
from mymazda.com after you register as an owner (needs VIN).
The OM is clear about what required maintenances are.

Simply put:
oil change: 5K (easy to remember) (or every 1/2 to 1 year if use very little)
differential fluid: 28K (heavy use - towing, short trips, dusty roads, etc)
No schedule for light use, but I did mine at 30K also (together with transmission fluid)
transmission: no schedule required (supposedly life-time fluid .... hehehehe)
but I go by 30K/45K/60K/... myself
Spark plug: 100K
Timing-chain: no belt to replace
Refer to the OM for others.

I think the MyMazda App for smartphones will allow you to send reminders to yourself. It won't do it automatically based on your mileage or calendar as far as I know, but you could set up a schedule ahead of time and lock it in.

If only it could remote-start my vehicle on those cold Hawaiian mornings,..
