Show me your CX-5 wheels

Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +38… having a hard time picking a 255-55/18 tire. But should be on the car next weekend

After much consideration and reviewing this thread dozens (and dozens) of times, I've finally put some new shoes on my 2018GT. I've never seen this generation with aftermarket wheels in person so this thread was my only resource. Thanks to you all who post and keep this thread going.

Although I wanted to go as wide as possible with tire selection, I ended up taking the tried and true route: 8.5x20 et 40 with 255/45/20s.

I'm very happy with the flushness. Not so much with the rear width as the 255s still look narrow to me. I've seen some forum posters run 275s on the rear but I just couldn't pull the trigger. I just feels like I've spent a good deal of money to get the car standing like it should have from the factory.

Wheels are Axe EX30, flow formed. Tires are Conti Extreme Contact DWS06. The combination weighs in 1.5lbs lighter than the OEM 19s. Not much but better than being heavier than stock.

Thanks again to all of you who share your knowledge and ideas.

Love these 17s with all terrains over 20s and low profiles anyday
Did you get the kmc bully's with offset 35 or 38 ?

Was looking at those but didn't want to mess with the
offset too much.

Opted to get old Mazda tribute five spoke 16" rims (same 45 offset) instead.

How are the bullys riding? and how do they corner?

Have you noticed any change with the 38 offset ?

what size tire ?

Ride amazing. They corner just fine honestly compared to my 20s. Only noticed maybe .5 to 1 mpg diff but besides that much more beneficial than 20s imo after riding those for a few years.

From dirt to snow and then 90 on the hwy, set up is highly recommended to people who want a functional set up

The diameter is about 3% bigger than the stock tires, so your car reports about 1 mile per gallon less than you are actually traveling.

In other words, you are going further and faster than the instruments indicate because they assume each revolution of the wheel is covering 3% less ground.

Nice. That's a sharp look. I really like that KMC Bully17" setup.

But wanted to drop to 16's for better ride, more sidewall, etc. Had looked at the Bully 16x7 rims but they had a 30 offset so that was too far off.

Decided to get the Mazda 16x7 tribute rims (ET45) with 235 70r16 Firestone AT2's. Keeps it very close to the stock scrub radius.

Getting the rims refinished(matte black, deep bronze or dark satin gray) and will be running these starting in spring.

Alternatively the 16x7 Montegi MR116 rims(ET40) were also a possibility and might still buy them as well.

If I go back to 17's will definitely get the KMC Bully's.

Will post pics in spring once it's all put together.

Got the Blizzacks DMV2 put on. Now if we could have some snow?!? Past few Winters here in Ohio, starting to wonder if I even need these anymore.
One of those rare times I actually got a good deal. Went to buy some steelies from Tire Rack and on a whim checked rims first. Steel wheels from TR we're $79. These black 17" rims were on sale for $99.
Bought them. Sent a link to my buddy, and they only had 2 left. I got the last full set.

Dedicated winter tires are not only a benefit in the snow. They benefit you even on dry cold roads, wet, ice, snow. Nice soft rubber compound that shines in cold temperatures like sticky track tires love the heat. It just blows me away how frickin' good modern winter tires are. I'm in Ohio as well.

I am far from a wheel/fitment/stance professional...

Contemplating 19x9's with either +32 or +20 offset and 245/50 19 tires to maintain the rolling diameter for AWD, and ability to use the spare.

In the past I used spacers with proper extended lugs to perfect the offset. But with lug nuts I don't want to mess with spacers.

I feel like +20 is a bit extreme, but the online calculators show that it lines up with the stock inner wheel. Only issue is that it pushes out the scrub radius a bit, and possible fender clearance if/when lowered.

I feel like there is more to the equation as well...

- Hub centric rings as the CX5 is 67.1 and these wheels are 72.6

- Should I be considering lug stud diameter as well?

- Lug nuts (I know that there are different versions to be aware of)

- TPMS sensors?

Are you trying to get the perfect stance for looks or functionality? Because 20 offset with what you wrote out is going to poke a ton… not functional what so ever

17x8 et38

Sits like this for reference. Obviously much more aggressive tire but for reference. 19x9 with et 20 🙈

My thinking... People are running 25mm spacers with the stock wheels (45 offset), which leaves it at 20mm and it looks great. But, come to think of it, that's with a 7" wide wheel. Another 2" would be a bit extreme. Back to the drawing board.
