Genuine Mazda integrated Bluetooth!

... its much cheaper to just plug in the aux port, mount my phone on the windshield...
However i do miss cruise control. Is there a kit available that we can install in on the sport models?

I thought about that, but my portable satellite radio normally lives in the aux port.

I'm starting to miss cruise as well. I don't know about an OEM type install that doesn't replace the steering wheel; though a leather wrapped wheel would be a nice addition too.
When I bought mine dealer mentioned a local place that could add an aftermarket cruise control unit, but I haven't looked into it yet.

Ok, so I decided to spring for the bluetooth module... pulled the dash panels, radio, ran the harness, cut the headliner, installed the mic all went well.
Started to run the mic cable and hit a snag: The A pillar trim - the instructions say something about pulling it back half an inch and turning a tab with needle nose pliers. Mine doesn't seem to want to pull open that far. I can't really see in there to grab said tab.

Those of you that have done this yourself, any tips for removing the trim without breaking anything?

Success. Everything where it belongs and it works.

If you're pondering this kit, as has been said before, it is not very advanced. Playing music from a phone or other device is best done through the AUX or USB port.

On the plus side, phone answering and voice dialing from my phone works wonderfully.

That's all I really wanted anyway, so I'm good with it.

Ok so I am getting a Mazda 2 touring in Zeal Red sent to me on Friday from a Mazda place in Ohio to a Chevy place owned by the same person in Kentucky 30 minutes from my house. I got a great deal and am having the factory blue tooth installed. They had to order it and said it should be in and installed on Thursday then they will have the car cleaned up and ready and drive it to me on Friday. I so can't wait. I actually went to Mazda's website and saw the part # and I know it was at Mazda Gear also cheaper but I didn't even think to ask the dealership to order it from there so it's too late. But I got a great deal on the car so I am good with it all. I said to the dealership make sure it's this part # cause it says it streams audio and I wanted it to stream audio also. But now I am reading from people that the streaming audio doesn't work well through blue tooth and a couple people said they use AUX. So is that what everyone recommends AUX? And someone said it only streams through the front speakers is that also correct? I am getting the touring which has 6 speakers over 4 which is in the sport.

My main concern is for phone though as long as it works well and people here me good and I hear them fine through the speakers I'll be good. I can use AUX I have a phone dock I use now that sticks to my windshield so I will use that for GPS and traffic apps and for my Sirius radio which I have an actual nice Kenwood unit in my car now. I have an Android Phone so Google Now or my Speak 2 it Assistant will dial for me when I speak so I think I'll be pretty good. But everyone here says it works well and that is my main concern. One person got a similar one to the Mazda and said he can push a button and Siri comes up can the Mazda version do that push a button and Google now comes up. Doesn't matter but that seems like a cool feature. I also wish the steering wheel controls did the blue tooth but it won't be that big of a problem. I probably could've used my phone too in the dock like one person said and did speaker phone and listened through speakers but I didn't want to do that and I always wear a blue tooth headset now. So having blue tooth built in to my new car is at least something new that my old 2002 ZX2 doesn't have. I'll miss my Kenwood stereo with Sirius 3 line color display but I'm keeping Sirius on my phone and I use iheart radio and my Google Play has every song on my computer I can play through my phone so I am good.

Anyway just googled and found this site and I was so hoping to hear what other people had to say about the factory blue tooth put in so I know I'm gonna like it. I got the touring for such a good price my dealer here who sold my husband his car wanted me to either get a sport with the factory blue tooth or buy his blue with an aftermarket blue tooth for almost a 1000 more than what I am paying for my Louisville cardinals Zeal Red with Black cloth and red trim to match my team. LOL!

Did a google search and found this forum. I found a good deal on the car so I don't mind paying to have it installed

Update with two images. Sorry for the iPhone photos. I left my DSLR at work. Also, one press of the button launches Siri on my iPhone - awesome!

Oh yeah so you recommend playing music through AUX or USB all my music is played through my phone so if streaming doesn't work good I'll do Aux also. My phone sits in a dock suction cupped to my windshield now and I hope I find a good spot for it in the new car. So If I was to do AUX where does the cord plug in and if my phone sits in the dock how long of a cord will I need? And I just get any AUX cord from anywhere? I know Mazda had one listed but I know mono price sells cheap stuff my husband buys from them. How bad is the streaming? Thanks! Rose

AUX plug is located in the middle of the center console, on the floor, right beside the accessory port/cig lighter.. Lines up fairly nicely with the shifter, any standard length cord would work. I haven't personally used the USB in the newer ones, but the plug is there as well.

Thanks! My husband had suggested I put my 15 gigs of music on a jump drive cause of the USB but I reminded him that all my music on my computer plays through my phone with Google Play even though it's physically not on the phone.I probably won't use the USB. With my phone being in the dock I'll be good using Google Play, I heart or Sirius from phone. Is streaming that bad? I'll just wait till Friday and see and decide. I just want to have an AUX cord ahead of time just in case and will have to figure out what length to get. I just can't wait to get my car.

What's bad about BT streaming is that none of your stereo unit controls or steering wheel controls for that matter (volume, balance, fader, ALC, bass, treble, next/prev track, next/prev folder, etc.) affect the music streaming through BT. Think of it as the BT unit simply hijacks the speakers from the stereo unit when it wants to tell you something. The only controls that affect BT are the ones on the module itself. Which works great for a phone call; music, not so much.

USB lets you control your music (tracks, playlists, albums, etc.) from the stereo unit and steering wheel controls - once you get used to the quirks of the stereo display.
But if you're streaming Sirius, Google Play, etc, and mount your phone where you can see and access it easily, AUX will work fine.

Having said all that, I'm still pleased with the BT and really like the car overall.

Congrats on your purchase.

Wow thanks for the reply! I didn't realize that about the bluetooth and audio. I want to use the steering wheel controls so I should put all my music on a USB thumb drive? And if I use my phone and do AUX then I use my phone to control volume and change tracks? If my music is on a thumb drive will it show the text on my radio I see the text button. I have about 15 gigs of music on my computer which I can access through Google Play. Guess I'll decide and figure it all out when I get the car. But like if i am using my GPS on phone the voice will come through speakers right? Anyway thanks I am glad I found this forum. Can't wait till Friday afternoon when I get my car. But to be sure I understand USB is the best and you can use Steering wheel AUX No and I know for sure BT is a no? I'm so glad I got the touring model.

Depends. If you frequently change playlists, or skip tracks, etc. from the stereo controls, then yeah, USB is better.

AUX volume is controlled from stereo or steering wheel controls. You'd use phone to change playlists, etc.

Yes.

USB - In most cases, yeah probably best.
AUX - Sound quality great, controls limited to volume.
BT - great for phone calls, and voice dialing (on my iPhone at least) does work well most of the time (if the road is really rough, road noise can be too much for voice dialing to understand). I've had no complaints from callers about the sound quality, so that's a big plus. But in Mazda's implementation on the 2, it's just not a great choice for music IMO.

Experiment and see what works best for you. I'm willing to put up with a few quirks to keep the OEM stereo in place, but I park outside in not the best neighborhood.
If after driving it a while, you decide you want to upgrade the stereo, it is actually a pretty easy swap. Only four screws and one bolt, the rest is plastic clips that pop out pretty easily.

But, worry about that later... enjoy your new car!

Ok great now I understand a 100% :) I just though phone would be easier than USB cause I could see what songs I want and change easier like you said but I wanted to make sure steering wheel also worked with AUX so I'm good. I actually found my factory stereo in my trunk that goes with my escort. I had bought new speakers to but they were cheap nothing fancy just a little better than what I had in the escort. I kind of would like to put the factory stereo back in and take out my Kenwood with my Sirius but I'm not going through all that. If I was to get another their is better ones out now. I just liked the 3 line text and how it lit up. But I hate to mess up how it looks in there and I know you said it's easy but I'll probably just use my phone and keep it how it is at least for a while. My main thing I want for winter is my remote starter which I'm getting and don't really know if I"ll tint windows this time around or not. But anyway Thanks Again, I can't wait till tomorrow. I fully understand now. I know it lights up like orange at night and I don't know it's too new to start messing with the stereo but if the place who does my remote start says oh it's easy it'll look good I may eventually do it. :)

Ok I'm sorry this is not the right thread to ask but my steering wheel controls don't work. What am I doing wrong? Does something have to be turned on first? I think maybe they did something when installing my Bluetooth. I know it only works with radio and CD but it won't do volume or change tracks mode doesn't work.

Getting the bluetooth installed does it make your steering controls not work cause mine don't? I see you posted did anyone get the steering wheel controls working? I know this is an old thread but maybe you meant the bluetooth streaming with the steering wheel which I know wasn't supposed to work. But my radio and CD's the controls don't work for anything. I'm thinking something came loose when they were installing it I have a message out to the dealership. MIne doesn't do voice dialing neither as far as I know. I tired it I have Android also and someone said oyou cna press the button and say dial so and so. Guess I'll try it again. But today I was told I might need a clock spring cause my steering wheel controls do not work for anything they light up and cruise control works but other side doesn't work for anything to do with my radio or cd's mode wont change info button doesn't work. I private messaged a couple people here since no one had replied. Hope that's ok.

I was about to buy the factory Bluetooth kit (0000-8F-P01) for my 2012 Mazda2 Touring MT, but I'm still not clear on:

- Did anyone ever get the steering wheel controls working? I could live without track-change controls, but I don't think I could live without volume control on the steering wheel?

Can anyone with the Mazda Integrated BT installed tell me whether phone calls and music are front speakers only when transmitted via the Bluetooth? I noticed the specs on the Rostra model stated they transmit to the front speakers only. Thanks for your input.

Ok so my Bluetooth quit connecting all of a sudden and I deleted the name carbt123 and tried to repair it and now it doesn't even recognize and won't even show me the device. I called the Tech Support number on my bppk and he said oh you need to hold it down till it beeps 4 times and that will totally reset it. Well that didn't work for me I couldn't even get it to do 4 beeps only 1,2, and 3. So now he tells me it's the module and I need a new one. He said it's covered and just to tell Mazda dealership by me to order one but they want to look at my car 1st and our so busy until next week. I hate not having it. Has this happened to anyone else and was it the module. Or
s their anything else I can do? He told me the brand too which I forgot but the Mazda dealership should know I am guessing once they look at it. Just thought i'd see if someone here can tell me something else to do that I am missing. Thanks!
