What did you pay for your CX-5?

Well, with all due respect, I'm glad you're excited.
It's always a thrill buying a new car, but I have to say, you paid way too much for all those goodies.
Bursting your bubble is not what I want to do, so I won't go through all the items on your list.
All I'll say is that dealerships make most of their money on accessories and add-ons, and in your case, they did very well.
Good luck.

Well like I said, the total sale price is great but I decided to add all those add-ons so I'll have some worry free for the next 5 years. The dealers werejust asking me if there is anything else aside from what is included from the GT package that I wanted and I gave him the huge list of accessories (gave him a surprised) plus I asked them about the extra warranty cause of the windshield issues and it is my first new car (bought M3 used back on 2010)... I am not a car guy who likes to tinker around their toys. Again it was not the dealer who offered me all this accessories, I asked for them extras =) ...

Also since you are in Ontario, you can check if there is other dealers that offers a discount of 5% right now from any Mazda Dealership ...You won't for a new car that is not even on their stock yet especially when they are trying to clear 2016-2017 on their inventory, it's only the company promotion not Mazda... They are not even promoting 2018 yet.

Hah, I lived in Brampton until about 8 weeks ago and drove past that dealership about 100 times to ogle the CX-5s.

LOL I went there like 6-7x since November to test drive the different Trim level they had and the same again for fun. Too bad they never had the GT with Tech but I am getting it anyway.

You paid a lot Ghost Sniper. With all the add-ons you added, you should have easily got some for free.

I know eh, this is what happened after waiting since November for this. I went in and just decided to add everything I could think of without pausing to think, like a kid walking in a candy store holding a $100 bill.

Looks like they charged you $200 for the white paint, that should be on the window sticker price and not added in, the dealership didn't paint the car after they got it.

I don't think the dealership has the car yet...

Still, with all the extras he got, I think the cost I would worry myself over the least is the $200 paint charge. I would have been looking for more "freebies" elsewhere...even with all those extras $50K CAD (taxes included) is damn high!

It should be probably part of the MSRP then? Because if you do look at Canada Mazda build & price (https://www.mazda.ca/en/shopping-tools/build-price/summary/#/id/xILA), the paint is an extra option charge and the Tech, both are not part of MSRP. Based Price is $35,000 with Tech + $1,600 & +$200 for Pearl White Paint. So I don't know if that MSRP on my bill should be higher or lower. Again this is based on Canada Mazda website.

I agree with you on this, it is damn high but again, it was my decision to add all those extras, not the dealer. I don't want to go through all the troubles going from location to another location to get all those additions that I have asked to save some money especially on this frigid winter weather we have now.

I have thought of buying all those accessories after market but the high quality from the OEM made me decided not to. I could have probably negotiated the other options like the tint, rust module(my m3 has it), hood and rust protection but the dealer cost match closely to what I had in mind. Only ones that caught me that I just said yes is the extra 2 year warranty Bumper to Bumper which cost $2400 but then again, they guaranteed to cover windshield repair using OEM products and the leather proctection if I accidentally tore it or gets rip by anything, it is cover for 10 years.

You guys are all looking at the final price as a shocked but if you would all go after market to add all those extra accessories cost for warranty and protection, it would be probably cost the same. Even just a single repair on a windshield which was known issues before would cost way more than what I paid for that extra warranty especially for GT trim.

Also take note, this is a 2018 model which is not even out on the dealership yet and I am the first one to buy one on this dealership. Other dealership doesn't even have GT in stock in pearl white and this is the only dealership that has it from more than 10 dealership around.

Yes, some of the paints are an "extra charge" (I paid an extra $450 CAD for the Soul Red Crystal). My base MSRP was $35,000 plus $1,600 Tech Package plus $450 Soul Red Crystal Paint.

Ya, I'm in Ontario (Ottawa) and as you can see in my sig, I just bought a fully loaded Mazda 6 GT with premium and tech last month.
I'm familiar with Mazda Canada dealer discounts and incentives.
The sale price of your CX-5 is not what I was commenting about. I doubt you'd get a bigger discount on the actual vehicle.
It's all the accessories and add-ons that you bought that you overpaid for.
I took my time buying my 6, and I'm like you, I wanted all the goodies on top of the loaded car.
I did a full window tint, trunk lip spoiler, block heater, body side moulding, OEM rubber floor mats, and mud flaps.
I'll be doing XPEL film on the car, as well as remote start, in the not too distant future.
Thing is, I negotiated for all that stuff, and got the window tint, spoiler, block heater for free. The body side moulding at cost.
The other stuff, I went outside the dealership.
The OEM floor mats came from Amazon, at half the price.
The mud flaps I bought in Florida at half the price.
There were a few other things that came along with the deal, including a nice Bose bluetooth Revolve+ sound dock for the house. Paired it with my phone and Ipad, and it sounds amazing.

As for the warranty, we get 3 years unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty in Canada, and 5 year unlimited mileage on the power train.
What can go wrong in years 4 and 5 that warrants spending $2,400 on an extended warranty? For that kind of money they should give you a ten year warranty.

That rust module for $995? Wow. If it's one of those electronic gizmos that they screw to the inside of the fender, then you've wasted your money.
Those things have been proven not to work. Google those things. You're better off oil spraying your car for $100.

Front only window tint for $350? Again, for that price, they should have done the whole car.
The price on the clear 3M wrap is too much as well. You can get it done at a specialist shop after you get the car, for a lot less.

As soon as you walked into the dealership and asked for all that other stuff, they had you by the short and curlies.
Anyway, it's probably too late to back out of some of that stuff, so it's a done deal.
Enjoy the new car.

Looks like your invoice doesn't have a VIN either, so I bet it all changes when they get the car.

They didn't have my vin on the bill because they don't even have the car yet X_X ... My dealer just got a word from his manager that they will have one coming because I bugged my dealer weekly if they have one coming. I know the guy well FYI.

He gave me the vin after asking him so I can call it to my insurance VIN #: JM3KFBDM9J0314139 ... He said don't call it in yet as the insurance may not see it on the system yet. Again the car is not on the dealer place yet, maybe it still on the cargo ship :p j/k ...

I guess my thinking is that you could sink that $2,400 (plus what you are spending on other "extended warranties"...and financing) in a savings account (i.e. an emergency repair fund), get a little interest, and pay for a windshield if you need it in those extra two years (and still have money leftover).

I have honestly never had to worry about a new car rusting in 4-5 years to understand paying almost $1,000 for "rust protection". Even my 8 1/2 year old Mazda 3 is fine and rust free. If I lived somewhere on the coast, maybe it would be more of a concern, but if you live in some of those coastal areas Mazda's "rust module" probably is not going to cut it...

The accessories, yes I could have bought them aftermarket as I have already the link list for all of them but decided not to after doing some research on the quality of the OEM.

The Bose, I completely forgot about this promo they have, I will call my dealer to come after this. *edited* I spoke with my dealer and he said I will get to choose to one of the 3 bose products they have. So free accessories =) thinking of getting the revolve+ also...

The extra 2 years warranty is the ease of mind that they will cover my windshield also for the next 5 years with an OEM product and more.

The rust module is from my experienced when I bought my M3 back in 2010 and it still rust free without me using any spray whatsoever. It actually cost me more back then when I bought it.

Window tint could probably be less for sure but I am not sure which shops does a good job for this in my area and time is also lacking. I leave my place at 7 am and dont usually come home after 8 pm. The 3M wrap (same as tinting) is cheaper in actual cost but the installation is not. I don't know any shops in my area that does a good job. I live in Brampton, so majority of the shops here are shady FYI, and it may cost me more for a much lesser quality.

You guys find a multiple ways to get a good deals on them extras while I just decided to concentrate in one location to worry less for a bit more than you paid. To each its own.

And only if it was summer and I have ample of time to do all these, I would probably do the same as you. Canada winter I tell you, -13c outside now without windchill X_X ...

We like before tax numbers. Much easier. If you live in a really high tax area that might be ok.
I was quoted $31,698 before taxes/fees. Again, this was for a white 2017 2WD GT w/premium package and roof rails, the latter which I didn't necessarily want. Basically just over $1K off MSRP which seems weak. This was at 0% for 60 months however and I am not sure if dealers discount less with lower interest rates.

The rust protection is for 10 years not 5 years, the 5 years is extended to cover windshield replacement with OEM and that bumper to bumper. I will see how they will honor this after 8-9 years if rust perforation would start to show. Lets check back in after 8 years =) ...

Hey, no problem.
FYI though, the dealership(s) farm out all of the accessory stuff, like window tinting, XPEL or 3M wrapping etc.
They don't do any of this stuff in house.
In my case, I knew the shop that my dealership used, and was confident in their quality of work.
I'll be going back to them for the XPEL wrap.

As for the Bose, I'm glad I reminded you...lol.
I chose the Revolve+ over the headsets, and it's really quite good. It will be delivered direct to your door too.

Canadian winter...ha ha. It's -23C this morning in Ottawa. Sucks.
My Mazda is tucked away in my garage, and I'm driving around in my old Pathfinder.

Woke up here to -26 C (but good news, felt like -36 C! (unamused)) I am crossing my fingers for a Chinook, while dreaming of my CX-5 and its heated steering wheel to come in (of course, it probably won't be here until next week after we DO get one of those Chinooks!). It definitely won't be staying in the garage. This is exactly what AWD, winter tires, and heated seats are made for...ha.

I am getting the Revolve+ too, though I have to wait until everything is finalized to get my code and all that. We already have the regular Revolve and are happy with it.
