Flaking Heat Shields

While I had the MZ5 on the jack stands. I've noticed the heat shields on the fire wall and above exhaust system are coming apart.
It looks like just a thin piece of aluminum foil on fiberglass foam with cardboard backing. The foil either detach from the fiberglass or flaking (in contact with moving part or air drag).
I am thinking of peeling off the foils and re-glue it with heavy duty radiant barrier foil (Class A/1 fire rating) instead of replace the whole thing.

Noticed the same w/my last 2 oil changes. Just the firewall heat shield tho. Keeps us warm in the winter! Was considering paperclips and HVAC foil tape. Let mne know what your fix was & how well it worked.

Some pics.

I pressed the foil back since then. They were dangling or touching other components a week ago.

Instead of of using radiant barrier (which I have yet to find the right adhesive), I used high temperature foil tape. Some area already lost not only the aluminum foil also fiberglass foam. Another example of cost cutting.
