Instead of changing my Alternator Belt when I first heard it squealing, I waited and of course the thing blew off (the very same day I 'planned' to finally change it ;-) ).

I drove about 5 minutes without the belt. My car didn't overheat because it was cold enough outside (at leas the needle didn't come close to spiking in the gauge). When I changed the belt the water pump and alternator felt fine. And the belt is currently operating just fine with no problems whatsoever.

Now I'm having a problem with the engine no wanting to warm up. It takes longer to warm up when it's idling. The temperature drops when I'm driving. I'm not getting nearly as much heat out of the heater as I did before.

When the belt came off did it take something with it?

Also recently I got a check engine light. So if I have to I can get a code. The engine seems to be running fine other that not warming up.
