CorkSport would like to announce a new addition to the CorkSport Mazda 2 line of suspension products, the Mazda 2 Front Sway Bar, developed to enhance Mazda 2 performance and handling.

The newly released Mazda 2 Front Sway Bar will reduce body roll during cornering and give the driver a crisper road feel. By strengthening the lower suspension connection across the front of the Mazda 2, the CorkSport Mazda 2 Front Sway Bar is able to reduce oversteer or understeer by complimenting other suspension upgrades and reduces body lean which keeps the outside tire in better contact with the ground in turns.

The Mazda 2 Front Sway Bar is made from CNC machined 7/8 4130 steel tube and provides 60% more stiffness than stock front sway bar. The powder coated black finish offers long lasting durability and performance. The included polyurethane mounting bushings eliminate the sloppy handling caused by stock rubber bushings and offer long life and resistance to common contaminants that would destroy rubber bushings.

Thoroughly tested by CorkSport during autocross and recently listed in Mazdas booth at SEMA 2011 in the concept Mazda 2 turbo car, the CorkSport Front Mount Sway Bar provides the Mazda 2 with a distinct racing advantage over stock sway bar and has been highlighted in publications such as Car Throttle, Autoweek, and Carbuzz.

That is a competitive price, and one that i'll likely be purchasing very soon.

One question: Racing Beat went substantially stiffer than you guys (Front: 319% over stock for them vs 185% over stock for you. Back: 1.5" thick for them vs. 1" for you). How did you decide to go that much less stiff (obviously stiffer isn't better, just wondering how you decided to go in different directions)? Did you test stiffer and not like what you found? Are you running stiffer springs/struts to compensate, or do you just think they're running too stiff in general?

We designed it to compliment our CorkSport rear torsion bar and also determined through extensive testing that this weight was best suited to provide an autocross advantage while still maintaining a cofortable ride as your daily driver.

Great question,

If you go with too large of a swaybar you can get feedback from one tire which can translate to the other. For example if you hit a pot hole on the road with the right tire a larger/stiffer swaybar will transmit more feedback to the left side of the car. We made a decision on bar size after road driving and testing at Autocross events to get the best setup for street and track use.

In stock form the Mazda 2 is designed with massive under-steer. When I won my first autocross with the Mazda 2 in the rain, I used the e-brake more than the Drift King. The car would not rotate to the point of me seriously contemplating diving under her nose and disconnecting the front ARB. It was raining too hard and I was too lazy. I won stock class anyway, so who cares? Anyway, someone needs to model the FRC for this car and do some serious suspension analysis as well as some racing to determine the best combos for: Track, Autocross, Aggresive DD and Mild tuned DD.

Maybe CorkSport is trekking on that road.

Awesome, thanks for the quick answer. Road + a little autocross is exactly what I'll be doing, so it sounds like this is the setup for me.

Are you guys thinking of putting your own springs out to pair with this set eventually? if not, do you have a spring you tested these with that you think they're best paired with?

Do the oem sway bar end links need to be upgraded with your front sway bar???

Are aftermarket end links available for the M2?

If the 2 is designed with a lot of understeer naturally, the addition of the torsion bar would help with that. Will adding the front ARB bring things back toward stock, with regards to under/oversteer? Or does the torsion bar w/ stock front ARB produce too much oversteer?

The stock end links have held up with the upgraded swaybar we have released. We have been daily driving the 2 for several months with zero problems. The only option we have seen for end links so far is AutoExe and they are rather pricey. We are looking into end links but it will be something down the road if we make them.

I had a chance to drive the 2 at its maximum with our torsion bar and our front sway bar and you do see a little more over steer with both installed over just the rear torsion bar. It takes some serious effort to get the car to over steer and it is super easy to catch if it does.

*like*

I forsee this purchase in the future :)

Ordered my Front and Rear set today (thanks for the awesome sale, Corksport!). Will post install pics and impressions once i get them (it's a race to get here before we run out of nice weekends).

This will be the first mods i've done to the 2. I'm excited!

Did you guys test the front/rear bar combo with OEM springs as well? How was the chassis attitude?

We have not run testing with stock springs with the front swaybar. We did testing with the rear torsion bar with stock suspension springs and the performance was a little less than with the H&R lowering springs.

yup, i'll post install and impressions once they're on. it'll be both front and back, but it'll be on stock springs. Theres a couple very unusual curves with big drops near my place that I drive all the time, should be a great place to try them out.
