Paint Vs. Powder-coat

I'm looking to spruce up my engine bay, and i notice a lot of people who have different paint jobs on their valve covers. Would you recommend getting it powder-coated or can i just paint it?

powder coating is usually preferred for its ability to withstand heat, but a good well prepped paint job can be almost as good(cheaper too in most cases, if you rattle can it). high temp exhaust paint works well. but if you have a hook-up or you can powder coat it yourself, i'd just go with that

i say poweder coating but if you able to use automotive paint and clear then it would last pretty long too, just let it sit in the sun to fully cure if you do the automotive paint.

Powdercoating. Lots of different choices. and you wont have to worry about chipping. (for the most part)

Is it necessary to replace the gasket when i put on a new valve cover? or can i just reuse the old one if its relatively new, providing i apply new silicone sealant as per the service manual?
