Started driving my wife's 02 protege5 to work as I just took a new job that is 60 miles one way and my pontiac g8's V8 is not nearly as good on gas.
To help make the drive more bearable and more inline with the stereo i installed in my g8 i installed a pioneer double din avic930bt. great setup so far and i love it, but at higher volumes the stock speakers aren't cutting it. I'm not looking to dump a bunch of money into this car and i dont need a sub (yet haha) as it has 127k miles on it, but i want to upgrade to components at least up front.
I read the speakers spec thread and it mentioned 6.5's will fit. Has anyone put polk 6501's in the front?

or am i better off with the 5.25" components?
Also, is it worth buying some tweeter pod inclosures from an 03 or should i just drill my own up by the mirror? I want it to look clean...
