Mazda 3 transmission trouble

I have a mazda 3 1.5L with a 4 speed automatic. The transmission is acting really weird. When i put it in D it stays in 1 for a second then shifts directly to 4. then another second later there is a huge jolt. there is no creep at all when I release the brake pedal.

I connected the IDS and found the DTC P0894 which says "transmission component slipping".

any idea what happened?

What did you end up doing? My Mazda Atenza wagon is doing exactly the same thing and has the same fault code! Was it the clutch for first gear? Or a valve body problem? I was just googling and managed to find your thread - I hope you solved your problem and that you can help me too!

The first gear clutch was burnt out... need to get someone to replace it...
