Flav's Mazda Protege5

Looks good bro.....try painting all your emblems too...and yes you need to drop that badboy..Try Tein springs...I lived in chicago lots of snow...never have a problem besides less snow in the wheel well...

Oh ya, also. Those springs, is that all I need? An how much do those go for?

ugh.
idk what i was thinking..
but, i need some people to agree with me that i made a bad choice..

back to black?

Sept. 12 2010.

this is gonna be a slow build, but hopefully in the end it looks great!

so here's what i've done since my old pictures on page 1.

- Blacked out the top rear light (since i forgot that when i initially did the rears)
- Blacked out the front grille & Mazda symbol
- Blacked out rear badges
- Blacked out mirrors
- Painted interior pillars (Black.. lol)
- Painted Radio trim area ..........Black..

so, it's pretty much mickey mouse stuff right now.
but looks like i've landed myself a new job in a factory, so money's a coming a lot faster then what its been lately!

here's what i've got planned in the short run.

- (This week) Replace brake pads & rotors (painted the hub area a gloss black to go along with my scheme)

- Finish interior (Black out the headliner, Remove the fabric on the doors and change them to blue to match my floor matt's)
- Start my fiberglass sub box (not the stealth, i decided i don't care about saving room in my trunk.. back seats will do just fine as a "trunk" lol)
- Maybe put on some mud flaps
- AEM short ram
- B&M short shifter, or TMW not sure yet.

I think that's it for now, i'll be posting some "updated" pictures sometime real soon, it's not a big difference from the pictures on page 1, but if any of you are like me, i like pictures.

okay.. so i know my photoshop skills are the best, but here's what i've managed to come up with for what i'd like my MP5 to look like.
as you can see, very rally inspired.

let me know what you guys think.

^ Doesn't look all that bad. I would go with the DG lip for that setup, and I would highly suggest blacking out your headlights as well.

Ya that picture is a little sloppy, but i added the 2003.5 msp lip.
But i hear those are impossible to find now.
So I'll prob just get the DG lip.

I'll be adding that and painting the hood after the winter over here.

Very clean P5, very nice. How did you do your rims? Where they the stock chrome when you got the car? I have an 02 P5 whith chrome that is getting nasty. I cant find anything decent in my area so I was thinking of some paint myself. I just dont want it to flake off in a month.

Yeah those are the stock illuminum wheels it came with, and they were so garbage and I don't have the money right now to drop on rims..
So here's what me and my buddy did for the afternoon
- wash em up nicely
- sand with some corse paper (I think I used 150...idk!)
- wire wheel the tight areas
- sand over everything with fine sandpaper to get rid of the big scratches etc.
- 1 or 2 coats of primer (not regular primer, it has to be this special primer for aluminum)
- paint with either rim paint or engine paint (I did engine because the rim paint was only in flat black)
- clear coat with rim paint

And wa la!

Took a long long time, but it makes the biggest difference for a fraction of the price.

Also I've had these rims painted for..3 or more months now and they still look great.

I've been saying this a lot but I'm gonna post some updated pics of my car (it's a lot nicer now then these older pics)

if only i had a nickel for every time someone told me to do that..
then i'd be able to afford it.. haha

i think before i drop it i'm gonna continue with some body work (there's a few small bubble rust spots starting to form that i want to deal with before they get worse)

on that note, does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to paint a hood? i wanna go gloss black.

Here it is finally! an updated picture.
took this last night, and its already kind of an old picture.
because since that picture i added my front lip on this morning.
but ill have to take a picture of that some other time.

since my last post the only things that i have done would be

- front Lip
- Altezza rear lights (thinking of MAYBE tinting them just a bit, but im gonna leave them the way they are for now)
- Blacked out interior
- reupholstered my doors (blue) to match the new floor matts
- 2 10inch subs
- mud flaps
- replaced some engine parts (OEM stuff, so nothing to brag about)
- Replaced rotors and brake pads (no more rusty looking brakes)

i guess that's all.
and please... no more slamming post's it just not in the budget at the moment and plus winters coming soon :)

i hate it!
they're not bad, but i know they're there.. so it bugs me -_-
maybe one day when i win the lottery i can paint it :)

I've always wondered if rustproofing was worth it on an already rusting car...

I might have to get mine done so that it doesn't rust apart over the winter.

LOL yeah, that 3rd light is so stealthy..

And what i did for tinting was..

Sanded down the tails with 400 grit
Cleaned with some rubbing alcohol
Sprayed 2 double coats of VHT tint spray
Then 2 double coats of clear after the tint dried fully (i went out for dinner so they were long dry)

I highly recomend u do the gloss or it looks terrible!!!

i saw a video on youtube and the guy sanded it with 2000 grit, is tht okay.
and i hear some downcomes abt this process, is tht the tint cracks, how is tht possible.
