$100 just to look at it?

2007 Mazda6 s,
So this is the first time I've had to take my Mazda in for service, and to be honest... I'm quite bothered. A while ago the A/C in my Mazda went out, and through searching on here I found out its a blown motor resistor.

So... I said I'll take it up to Ralph Thayer to have them take care of it.

They want to charge me $100 just for bringing it in? When I already know what the problem is? What crap is that?

I'm thinking I should probably take a stab at it myself and see how easy it really it is instead of shelling out $200+. Is this normal everywhere once you're out of warranty?

I've always heard places charge a fee to look at it, and then if you decide to get it fixed there, they waive the fee to look at it and just charge for the repair.

That would be a little better, but the service guy seemed to be a dick when I asked such a question.. I was happy that my Mazda hasn't needed service before this. Maybe it was just him though... *shrug*
