MSP Trans Leak

I just bought an 03.5 MSP and the trans is leaking... It leaks from inside the boot that covers the shaft going into trans. It is the shaft that is connected to the shift linkages outside the trans. Is this an easy fix or does entire trans need rebuilt?

if the tranny still shifts up and down shifts smoothly then it could just be the seals....from overfilling the casing

As stated, the first thing to do would be to drain/refill to the correct specifications. after that the shifting linkage seal is easy to replace.
