The 100K (Mile or Kilometer) Mazda5 Club

Bought my 2010 M5 in 2015 with 61k on it; traded in a 2002 Windstar toward the purchase. It's 109K now and the only things I've had to deal with besides oil change every 5k have been headlight replacement twice (same bulb) and the window swipes replaced on all four windows. Got the windows tinted this spring and it really makes a difference in the midwest sun. I love this vehicle to bits and am hopeful that when the kids are grown and move out (4 years or so) I can use it as a camper until I find where I want to settle. (eekdance)

Sold our '08 5 this September, bought it right before my son was born in November. Besides the rear strut and electric power steering recall,it was never in the shop. Besides eating tires, regular oil and transmission fluid changes the car required no maintenance save a few air filters and cabin filters. Best damn car we've ever owned, dead reliable took us everywhere. It was my wife's daily for 9 years, and I drove it the last year we owned it. Regret selling it

Neil B, I agree! My 2008 GT 5-spd has been super reliable as well. I'm not prepared to get rid of mine yet. I'm now at 492,200km, and I want to see 500,000km on the odometer. Then I'll see if it'll go another 100K, haha!

I have 136,000 miles on my 2010 GT. No major issues- although I'm looking at replacing a leaky fuel pump very soon. I am second owner and since 2014 have:
replaced oil cooler gasket (early on -twice!); motor and transmission mounts; F and R sway bar bushings and end links; F & R struts/shocks; F brake discs; battery (2X- Phoenix heat kills them quickly!). I am running 2013 MazdaSpeed 3 wheels (18x8?) with Hankook 215-18-45 tires. Full synthetic 5W20 oil, and I change the transmission fluid 2-3 times a year with Royal Purple Transmax.

***.. and I change the transmission fluid 2-3 times a year with Royal Purple Transmax.

I know RP people need money to run their race cars, but you might be donating too much towards their cause.
Every year or two should be fine if you are using expensive stuff like this.
You may add up your costs over the span and it would be cheaper just to swap a new tranny in at the failure point then doing oil changes at those intervals.
Amazon fluid price would lead me to believe $70 a change, x 3 times a year x 10 years = $2100
I see stock, never changed, run that long and more, although myself change every year or two and 7 years later still shifts like new.
Also going by this forum, tranny failures are not common on this car.
Tranny failures more coming with overheating, so installing an axillary cooler is more helpful in the long run then new fluids.

Just my $0.25 :)

Sunday May 12, 2019.

My 5 reached 100,000 miles.

The tires are still wearing evenly since I installed the adjustable upper rear control arms a couple years ago.

(cheerbanana)

117,000 miles on my wife's 2012 Grand Touring. No major work on it yet, just brakes, oil, filters, and belts... But I think its coming (which is why I just joined here).

We love this car to death and will love it until its death. No other "van" drives like a car like this.

Well everyone, I did it. Earlier this month my 2008 Mazda5 crossed 500,000km (~310,000mi).

Other than some rust showing around the rear wheel wells, and stone chips on the hood, it looks pretty good.

Now Ill see if I can get to 600,000km ..... 😜

My '08 just passed 120K :D
but that's 120K mostly hard city miles and it has given me a few problems :(

Well done! Must be some highway miles in there. Our '09 is running well at 167K km (c. 104K miles).

Lost the trans at 210,000. The crunchy synchros came back at 190,000, going to swap a 90,000 mile trans in and do the clutch while Im in there. Its a 12 sport.

It still has basically the same mileage , I got a new f150 and have 50k on it since August. Be better to sell it then have it sit here but the manual trans has put off buyers.

Update - up to 125k miles now, and only just replaced transmission fluid (shifts more smoothly now, yay!), cabin and engine air filters (cabin was a booger, resorted to my family mechanic to save me on that one), and wiper blades. Drove it 500 miles Saturday for a band competition and took a quick nap in the back so I know it'll work as a minimalist camper (will be even better if I remember to bring the mattress and pillow lol).
