Ebay Exhaust (UPDATED W/ VIDEO!)

After seeing a number catback exhausts on ebay for the protege5 for under $150 shipped i decided to search and try to find more info on it but came up empty handed. lol so i went ahead and bought the cheapest one i could find.

the total came out to $123.16 shipped to my door. Shipping took 1 day and i installed it on xmas day!

It came with the 3 piece exhaust, bolts, nuts, and gaskets

As far as quality goes id say it's just okay, it's great for $120 but it's not going to win any awards, the welding is sufficient, but messy and the gaskets it came with were s***. Overall i am very happy though, it was less than half the price of what i paid for my intake and it sounds pretty damn good.

piping is 2.36" and the tip measures a massive 4." I will be cutting it off eventually and welding another tip on, one that doesnt resemble a cannon...

On my way home from work, the rain decided to stop for a bit so i took the opportunity to get a quick vid. Not the best quality, but it works.

Look's good not too shabby. You like the sound at all?Video's should help alot looking forward to this.

I think this may be one of the few successful eBay parts I've ever heard of, congrats!

People say that the cheap Ebay exhausts would be a problem if you live up North because the finish will rust, but for guys like you and I (being in the South), I would say that this would hold up really well. Did everything line up with this kit or were there some fitment issues?

Also looking forward to videos.

Why does stuff rust up north and now down south? I thought it was pretty humid down there. Or are you talking about when they salt the roads in the winter?

Salt from the roads will corrode the exhaust (not to mention the car).

i think I got the same one on my car(it was around 150 shipped). but I removed the muffler and installed magnaflow I had. I don't have any troubles with it

Same here, ebay ss piping with magnaflow muffler. Live in south, exh is over 5 yrs old without issue. Is only temperature colored from use.

Cool post! I've had pretty good success from ebay, so I'm wondering about the $100 header... I got lucky and picked up a used Greddy exhaust in town for $100!

Is this the same exhaust?

https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

And where are the sound clips? (drive2)

yes, that is the exact same exhaust that i purchased. from the same seller too. sorry everyone ive been really busy with work, im trying to save up for a turbo setup. and ill try to get some sound clips up by tomorrow night!

i would assume this would connect to a mazdaspeed axleback. if so, i might pick one up just for the piping

that's exactly what i was thinking!

try to get an obx header, they're around the same price. a good friend of mine ordered an ebay header as an xmas gift for me and we ended up sending it right back because the welding was very poor

And just a quick update that i forgot to add in my original post, i had to use a cut-off wheel to remove a 1.5" piece off of one of the muffler hanger rods in order for the exhaust to fit properly. annndd im pretty sure the muffler is "universal" because i could have sworn that i have seen the same one on a few honda threads

so how can they sell it for so cheap? Maybe there's less catalyst in the cat and so your emissions won't pass certain states?

i have this set up its a tcs sportline.sounds real good on my car with the turbo.a nice deep tone.the only thing is i had to have the exhaust rebent from the cat back to the muffler cause the pipes were bent wrong.i called tham and the refunded half of what i paid(dance)
