Engine Accessory Belt Install Problems

Hey Zoom-Zoomers,

I am attempting to replace the two engine accessory belts on the wife's 03 Protege and am having a tough time finding the adjustment bolts to loosen up so I can remove/replace both belts. I was hoping that someone on here could give me some info on how to do this. I have changed the belts quite a few times on Domestics, but never before on a Mazda.

My manhood is at stake!!!

The alt/water pump belt has the tension adjuster on the alternater, You have to loosen the two bolts that hold the alt to its bracket. The you can use the adjuster which is on the fire wall side of the alt. to loosen the belt. Power steering and A/C belt uses the power steering pump as the adjuster too. same concept as the alternator for loosening and tightening the belt.

If that seems confusing I will try and explain better. I no longer have my 1.6 to take pics, but i'll do my best.
