What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

first day of the cold front, so installed the winter tires.
our winter of course does not compare to the real winter, but the side roads were all covered in pure ice.
so for the next 3 month will be waiting out the winter.

Prototype Megan Racing coilovers for the second gen installed today. Was getting dark so we didn't get to readjust the rear. Will have a lot of detailed pictures soon.

They don't have an official application for the second gen so Drift Office got me a set and installed them for fitment and testing. Will have a big post with lots of pictures soon. I just want the back to sit a little more flush but going to give it a few days for the springs to settle.

They've just never test fitted it on a 2nd gen so that was the prototype portion :D.

that's what i was thinking. i was under the impression that the two generations had interchangeable suspension components.

The second generation got beefier rear struts and I assume different spring rates that's let prone to blowing out at 60k iirc. I need to get rid of my stock suspension though, takes up way too much room lol.

Got hit in the parking lot. Shattered taillight, messed up bumper, and looks like a scratched and dented body above the taillight. Just great.

My 5 got hit in the front by someone with a ball hitch at the hardware store the first year I bought it. I feel your pain, by the way I just fixed it. (Heat gunned the bumper back into shape, sanded, and plasti dipped black. I will have to post a picture, it looks totally ghetto.

80k power steering and coolant flush, and oil/filter change (also Ford Motorcraft fluid and filter). At what point can I call it a Ford?

The power steering fluid is old. The coolant wasn't bad.

Filled up the tank after racking up 335 miles after heading out to the Oregon coast from Portland and spending five days driving up and down the 101. Most of the miles were spent driving 55 mph on the twisty coastal and mountain roads with my best friend, her dog and lots of stuff. For 60 miles or so, we had six adults + giant dog. The Mazda impressed everyone with its spacious interior and its superb handling. 27 mpg after all said and done. Love this car.

Drove to work with the new front sway bar bushings in place. The quietest drive I have had in his car since I bought it almost two years ago. All the energy and money spent replacing all the worn out suspension components seems SO worth it now. I'm now at 181,450 miles and looking forward to 200K

Headlights on the 5 were still functional, but seemed to be pretty dim at 67,000 miles. Installed Sylvania Xtravision H11s. Stupid easy installation, feel bad for the 2006-2010 folks for how bad their installation looks. On the 2012-2015 you just pop the hood, unplug the bulb, twist, remove, replace, replug, close the hood. Took about ten minutes total, would have been faster if I hadn't done it at dusk and had a screwdriver handy for depressing the tab to unplug the electrical line. So far the new bulbs are definitely brighter than the old bulbs (the OEM ones are Phillips H11 Long Life, by the way) were at the end. Not bad for $32 from O'Reilly.

Replaced the battery with an Interstate brand. The original battery was long past needing replacement.

We just replaced ours with an Interstate as well. The remote start wasn't turning the starter long enough and it wouldn't start with the weak battery.
