How it started about 6 months ago...
Chassis / Suspension:
1991 Mazda Miata
1996 suspension swap front and rear from junkyard. Ground Control sleeves 450 front and 250 rear springs, NB tophats front and Flyin' Miata tophats rear. "Reworked" Koni Yellow dampers. Hollow-spoke Miata wheels, Falken AZENIS RT-615 tires. New pads up front, possible original pads in rear.
Engine / Drivetrain:
Welded 1.6 open differential, driveshaft held on by 2 bolts, 1991 transmission, 1997 1.8L engine using Flyin' Miata mounts and throttle body adapter, Megasquirt 1.6L PnP ECU, Magnecor 6.5MM plug wires, Bosal 4-2-1 header, HKS Hi-Power 2.3" exhaust. Automatic transmission radiator. ARC radiator cap. Needs a rebuild some day soon.
Interior / Exterior:
Body panels from every year NA Miata, all the possible shades of white offered. Robbins glass window top replacement. 1993 LE edition red carpet. Unknown year 90-93 dash. No radio, no speakers, no lights other than gauge cluster. Sparco Sprint seat solid mounted. Panda bobble head to keep me company. Cut rear bumper, 5MPH crash s*** removed and thrown away. Odyssey battery, gutted trunk.
My plans for the car were/is to figure out some engine management, do a wire wrap, and get ITBs.
Fri Jun 20, 2008
This is when I started removing the dash to figure some things out.
Hey, my dash is from a 1992?
Sun Jun 22, 2008
Rainy day ruined my plans to do any thing. So I did some interior mods.
Take note of this little guy for later...
This was fun for sitting in the car, but it made shifts take FOREVER. This went back in a box of parts later.
Fri Jun 27, 2008
It was hot as s*** in the drive way in direct sun removing this dash. No fun!
I want to drive like this from now on.
Oh look, a box of junk.
Sun Jun 29, 2008
Another day in the driveway. Pulled more wiring, took out some dead weight.
The harness goes all the way into the lights. One big long strand.
Look at this, sheesh!
This is where the car sat for a long time while I got money and a plan together.
Dec 21, 2008
So I moved the car to Rich's house who is going to do a lot of grunt work for me or else this would never get done.
Cleaned engine bay, no more wires left in the car.
This is when we just started pulling every thing.
I actually got another 90-93 harness, I ended up not using any of this. I thought I would need plugs or something. Nope!
Having a garage means working late for once!
Pretty much more and more tear down and cleaning.
Tue Dec 30, 2008
Just more interior removal.
This is where I really screwed up, I never should have done this before getting the car started first.
Tue Jan 06, 2009
This is the day my ITBs arrived.
Thu Jan 08, 2009
First mock-up of the future manifold.
Sun Jan 11, 2009
This is how you make power cables for cheap!
Then it was time to do some wiring.
This is how the engine looked at this point.
A two image how-to to make good connections.
Lots of maintenance on the beat-up car.
And here's why my car stopped running so suddenly, folks! I will skip some of the images but I tried using the KIA 1.8 BP cams from a junk yard. They don't fit right.

Fast forward a lot of wasted time. I needed welding done, and 2 welders flaked out and I had to get my parts back after arguing. A wideband burned out on me and one of them came dead in the mail. A corrupted Megasquirt file had me stumped for a couple days... Then I got it all sorted out.

Hell froze over.

And that gets us to today.
