My car threw OBDII code P0442, evap leak. Checked and, low and behold, gas cap not on tight. Easy enough... although been 175 mi since the fillup?

Anyhow, is there any way to clear the code or get it to reset, w/o having to pull the neg battery cable? Paperclip jumper maybe?

I'd like to avoid this b/c (1) I don't feel liek having to reprogram my radio, (2) I need an inspection soon, don't really want to wait for a whole drive cycle and (3) I assume that would also mean lousy gas mileage while it's re-learning?
I got the code pulled at AutoZone, I was really surprised when they said they couldn't reset it. Maybe a good excuse to buy myself a ScanGuage...

Thought that one would go away on it's own after a bit once cap tightened.............

yeah i ended up buying my own scanner, the guy at autozone told me that alot of people were coming in and having the codes cleared and then going to get inspected so they are no longer allowed to clear them?
