Low power, then brake lights, then won't start

Hey there. Need help. Please give me your input. Here's what happened:
- drove for about 20 minutes
- noticed at one point car was barely moving when giving gas
- looked at dash, brake lights where on
- i pulled over and checked handbrake (was off)
- decided to shut the engine off for a few seconds
- couldn't start the car anymore...dead

the engine turned but just stopped. called CAA and got a boost. everything is fine now.

I just got back from a long trip (400km saturday and 400 km back on sunday). noticed a weird A/C prob on the way back. A/C was on and compressor was on, but air from vents was only mildly cool, not cold. Seems to be ok now. drove little after that in the last few days. my battery is 1 year old, and high quality (max CCA). It can't be a vacuum in gas tank from the long drive right? Boosting wouldn't solve that... And if my alternator wasn't charging the battery, I couldn't have gotten very far. I read something here about the key fob triggering the starter kill... that wouldn't stall it right? I have an aftermarket alarm but have noticed a few times in the last few months that locking/unlocking doors with my remote doesn't work. Not sure if there's a short there. Any input is appreciated...THANKS!!
