Main Bearing Support Plate Modification

I need some ideas on what to do. My Main Bearing Support Plate (MBSP) got ruined when the rod broke. I have a Protege MBSP, but it does not have the oil inlet fitting. I really do not want to spend $350 for a MSP MBSP. Any suggestions?

Yeah....Add one to your oil pan (drain) and use the regualar Protege Plate.
Problem Solved.

Yea what he said. It should cost no more then $30 to have a bung welded to the pan.

I have a std Mazda Main Bearing Support Plate. It appears that several people have drilled and tapped an AN fitting to the plate. I have several questions:
1. Any reason this is a bad idea
2. Can you use an AN-8 or is a AN-10 preferred. AN-8 seems to fit better.
3. Would you weld the fitting on the inside of the plate to help insure no leaks and does not break

Thanks
