I'm seeing more & more of them on the streets here in Japan...It's really growing on me...Definitely one of the coolest "eco" cars on the market! :D

excellent little ride. Great color choice. Better looking than a yaris or a fit. Bring it stateside mazda

can you tell me what type/size the headlight bulb is?

Thanks!!!

awesome.. now does anyone know if the JDM headlights are a direct swap with the USA one? Aside from wire splicing of course.. I think I can get around to rewiring the headlights and double check the amps, fuses and voltage..

If not, i'll just have to find some bi-xenon HID kits for the H4 bulbs.

Since Japan is a right-hand-drive country (like England), if you install JDM headlights on a U.S. car, they will be aimed towards the wrong side of the road!

Most U.S. headlights in recent years use H4 (or similar) bulbs, so you should already be getting the full equivalent of "Euro-spec" lighting performance with the U.S. Mazda2's stock bulbs and lenses.

well, not England parse, but I know that some Euro countries sell left-hand drive cars. My Subaru WRX days lead me to both JDM projectors and EDM projectors.. each point different directions. The "EDM" version is the one that most people try to get since it will be compatiable with USA roads while the JDM ones were the "glaring" ones since they aimed towards the left for USA roads.

Only reason I asked is that I would like to have seperate bulbs for hi's and low's. Most bi-xenon HID kits that run "dual filament" (oxymoron in itself) require some warm up time. My old Catz (now out of business) HID kits were the mechanical solenoid type so that when you kick the hi's, the bulb mechanism itself would move along it's reflector to simulate a high beam. I looked around for some H4 bi-xenons, but most of them are designed either too bulky or really shoddy looking. Also, I dont like H4 bulbs simply that I would have to change out the whole bulb if the low-beam is out, kind of a waste knowing full well the high-beam filament is working.

I'll weigh out the options if I know how much a JDM headlight is worth. This is also nice so that I can spend some time taking apart the lens to clear it.

I just got my new Mazda2 tonight :) and one of the things I noticed while driving it home is that when you switch on the high beams, the low beams shut off, so you lose the foreground illumination. I guess with both the low and high beam filaments in one bulb, they can't run both at the same time, or else it would get too hot. Not a critical flaw, but I got spoiled by my Mazda3 and most other cars in recent years which keep the low beams on when you turn on the high beams -- so it's another reason to consider retrofitting Euro-spec headlights, with the separate bulbs.

Great photos of a great car

I have driven the Canadian model 1.5, with the 5 spd manual, reminded me of the Miata

We have a 1990 Miata and 2001
