Mazda Bluetooth Hands Free kit

Hi all,

I just bought a Mazda 6 Luxury Sports Hatch 2007 and am interested in getting the Bluetooth Hands Free kit (Bose Audio), but apart from the accessories page below I haven't been able to find anything on the quality or how it works

http://www.mazda.com.au/Buying/Accessories.aspx

Tried Google and searching these forums to no avail.

Can anyone help? Is it worth it or should I look at more non-standard hands free kits from actual phone companies? A friend suggested sometimes hands free kits from the dealers can be crap because they only make cars not phones!

Sorry for the n00b ignorance

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Haha, yeah that would seem to make sense (what your friend said about them making cars and not electronics) but really, they would just farm out the job and do a partnership with another company for that.

I did some research and yeah, I couldn't find much either. But, I did find something that was pretty cool and it's based out of Australia which seems to be perfect for you.

The Technical Specs tab shows some info on how it works. If you get it, by all means let us know how it works out because I would totally do this if it functions well.

Ryda Handsfree

Hey chacon101,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I did forget to mention I had seen that Ryda model out there and it was even mentioned on the forums here (see below).

Looked like there was a little trouble with it that a professional install probably wouldn't have, but I didn't like how only the front speakers mute while the back still have volume during a call (then again I suppose you could just mute manually, but that defeats the purpose).

Either way I was hoping someone knew something about the Genuine Mazda product before I went down that route.

I've requested an accessories brochure from Mazda which will hopefully tell me more than the website.

Failing that I suppose I'll just have to go in and chat to a Salesman :p

Thanks again

I have the Motorola IHF 1000 that I installed myself (I'm not an electrical wiz either). Works perfect, doesn't look out of place, and sounds nice (on both ends). I mounted the external speaker they provided under the glovebox, and mounted the remote between the seat heater buttons. The rest of the unit is in my dash in the space beneath the radio.

It was a relatively easy install. Remove the center console cover, and remove the center radio stack (instructions found in forums). Put everything where you want, tap a 5v line and your done. (Really, the only thing it needs from the car is power.)

Good luck with your options!
