Cooling Issue, got some ideas, need some hints

Hi, all, first I would like to say how grateful I am to have found this site, you guys are awsome.

On that note I need a little help or ideas.

I have a 01 protege 2.0. It began overheating. I towed it back to my house and checked the fans after it cooled. My B.I.L. said it overheated on him driving on the highway.

I let the car warm up and just only one fan came on, the drivers side. Could it be the fan motor, the relay, or maybe no problem at all just the thermostat is out?

And where is the relay?(huh)

well could be the thermostat.

and only one fan is going to turn on... the other one is for the A/C

my last cars cooling system was totally shot but i managed to make it home (while driving on the highway) the air kept the engine cool enough to drive.

that being said if it overheated while driving at high speeds it could be the thermostat..

I have no idea where the relay is

let the car run in teh driveway and have the cap off. when the thermo opens you should see the coolant go low. if it dont and starts to over heat there is your problem.
