Updated results next month. We'll be posting results separately for the MS3 again. Looks like just partial results again unless we get about half a dozen more responses per model year in the next ten days.

We'll have another update in February. If more people sign up now, and participate, we'll have full results then.

We have updated results for the Mazda3 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2009. Results are now posted separately for the MazdaSpeed3. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2008.5-
2009 Mazda3: 70, about average, common problem with the audio system

2008.5-
2009 MS3: 65, see note above

2008 Mazda3: 57, about average, might have some 2008.5s with the troublesome audio system in this sample

2008 MS3: 64, again see note above

2007 Mazda3: 19, better than average

2007 MS3: 82, about average

Sample sizes range from small to nearly adequate for the MS3, so these results are not as precise as those for the regular Mazda3. That said, only with the 2007 does the MS3 appear to require more repairs.

We have updated results for the Mazda3 and MazdaSpeed3 to include owner experiences through December 31, 2009. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2010 Mazda3: 6, better than average

2010 MS3: first stat in May

2008.5-
2009 Mazda3: 58, about average, common problem with the audio system

2008.5-
2009 MS3: 52, see note above

2008 Mazda3: 46, about average, might have some 2008.5s with the troublesome audio system in this sample

2008 MS3: 51, again see note above

2007 Mazda3: 22, better than average

2007 MS3: 82, about average--only in its first model year is the MS3 more troublesome than the regular Mazda3

Sample sizes range from small to nearly adequate for the MS3, so these results are not as precise as those for the regular Mazda3. That said, only with the 2007 does the MS3 appear to require more repairs.

2010 MS3: 40, about average, very small sample size

2008.5-
2009 Mazda3: 39, about average, common problem with the audio system

2009 MS3: 53, about average, small sample size, see note above

2008 Mazda3: 49, about average, might have some 2008.5s with the troublesome audio system in this sample

2008 MS3: 55, about average, again see note above

2007 Mazda3: 21, better than average

2007 MS3: 73, about average--only in its first model year is the MS3 significantly more troublesome than the regular Mazda3

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

These stats require more data. We received enough responses for the following years, the regular Mazda3 in all cases:

2009: 70, 4

2008: 61, 3

2007: 83, < 1

MazdaSpeed3 Lemon-odds and Nada-odds

Repair trips? 55 per 100 cars in a year? I think your data is skewed because you're not getting an honest, random sample. You're getting people online here who are more apt to report problems than no problems.

55 per 100 strikes you as a lot? Since some cars require two or more, this means that over half of the cars didn't require even a minor repair during the year.
