seafoam application

too many to list, but 2002 MP5 for the forum
how does one go about putting sea foam into the throttlebody? it is recommended in the use of the product to put it directly into the carb or tb. so i'm wondering if it is even worth my time to pull the airtube off to squirt some of this stuff into it. pretty sure that the m.a.s. won't let the car run if it's detached, right????

There are some threads about this. Get yourself a can or something to put the seafoam in then start the car, pull off the vacuum line at the brake booster. Here's where you kind of need either a second person or to be very much like Gumby, you stick that vacuum line into the seafoam and it will suck the cleaner into the engine and try to kill it at the same time. Allow the engine to suck up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the can of seafoam, you should rev the engine up above 3500 RPMD to open the VCTS butterflies if your car still has them, then shut off the engine. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. During that time you should reconnect that vacuum line and also unplug your battery to reset the ECU. Once it has sat for the duration, get in, start it up and drive it like you stole it. It's gonna smoke like nothing you've ever seen for awhile. That's the funny part, seeing peoples faces as you are driving by.

Good Luck.

"vacuum line at the brake booster"

just wondering if u can describe where this is exactly or have a picture o_O

thanks

brake booster line

can u see the brake booster from standing in front of ur car? the hose attached to the left side at roughly 10 o'clock is the brake booster vacuum line. w/ the car running u can use a set of pliers to back off the retaining ring, and gently remove the hose from the booster. the car should almost immediately choke down or stumble...... that's the vac. line.

Or you could just hold it at rpm by holding the throttle body open with your hand...
