So I took out my stock subwoofer because I added an extra one and I was wondering if I can hook up a component speaker where the old sub was. Would this work? I was thinking of splicing into the sub harness for a pos and neg wire. what do you guys think? maybe the eq would be messed up I dunno.

The amp that powers the stock subwoofer is attached to the bottom of the subwoofer. If you wanted to power a speaker in that location you would have to make use of that amp or connect another amp to the audio signal in the wiring harness. However, the signal I believe is only mono and is only low frequencies. Therefore it won't do you any good. Just leave the sub out and you will have a nice opening for bass to pass from the trunk to the cabin.
