i have heard and read different things on this subject. i have heard that after you do a performance mod like an exhuast you should reset the ecu so that it can relearn to gain the most power from that mod. is this true?

im intrested on this topic too... more so,
ahh how do i go about resetting my ecu, is it typically
cutting the power for 24hrs?
cheers
( i did a quik search on this n found nothing, thats why im asking)

The ECU is pretty smart--it may adapt even without a reset. If you're concerned you're not getting all the power you think you should, resetting the ecu won't do any harm other than running hella rich and killing your mileage for a couple hundred miles. Disconnect the negative terminal, press the brake pedal for 30 seconds, and reconnect the terminal--your ECU is reset.

i know there must be others out there with more input. i would like to get as many peoples opinon as possible on this subject.joshp5...your input is greatly appreciated. any others?
