the side sill TSB makes a very noticable difference. Last week had torrential rain, ice, even some snow mixed with the road sand and salt - my doors remained clean & dry. before the new seals, all my doors on the inside were a disaster

That's something I'll ask for next time I'm in for service. I was surprised at how dirty those sills got for a new car.

Thanks for the great info --

I suggest printing it out and taking it with you just in case. I mentioned the TSB for the sills when I got my oil changed, and they said it didn't apply to my car, which is BS. I'm marching in there with the TSP in hand this weekend. (eekdance)

the way to approach tsb's - next time ur car goes in, address the tsb as a problem ur having that you know the tsb addresses. Just tell the service guy there is something wrong with the door seals, its like the doors arent shut all the way and stuff comes in and then say u did some research and came across a fix for the problem you have.

if you say do the seals - u really arent addressing the direct problem and chances are they will just say you dont need it.

Anyone know how to tell if this is really updated?

I brought this to my dealer. First they tried to tell me that they would only do it if the Check Engine Light came on. I told them it doesn't mention anything about the CEL in the TSB. Then the service manager told me that this TSB is supposed to be attached to some other TSB regarding some manifold issue, and that unless the CEL is coming on or something is showing up when they read the ECM, that they won't do this.

Then finally after I had my oil change and a few other things done, they told me the software was up to the current level.

If they had told me the last sentence after they did everything without giving me a hassle, I might believe them.

Any way for me to verify this?

Jeff

yea, from a stop hit the gas, if ur car hesitates noticably (no power delivery in the 1-2k range then u get a kick in the pants burst) then they didnt do it. also, on the highway, ur car should stay in 6th gear more and the tranny wont jump around as much

If I hit the gas.. it starts up slow... then the turbo kicks in around 2500. I thought this was normal turbo.

So I'm assuming nothing was done? I guess I'll have to try a dealer that is farther away.

Based on the dealer you went to's understanding of the TSBs, i think you'll be happier with the dealer further away, assuming they have more of a clue. (The CEL has nothing to do with the turbo lag fix.)

the kick that you are noticing should be very much subdued if the update was done. With the update - power delivery is much more smooth w/o the big rev and burst of acceleration. if you are getting that big burst at the higher rpm range, then my guess is that its not done. also like i said, on the highway the car should spend much more time in 6th gear.

I was looking over the TSBs and the one on the crakshaft pulley bolt is weird. The crankshaft pulley is NOT keyed to the crankshaft and yet the pulley rotational alignment is crucial to the valve timing. Why would any manufacture not use a key to lock the pulley? To key the pulley might cost ~ 3 cents per engine. Am I missing something?

What exactly does the MiL illumination affect/cause?

I read the PDF.. it goes on to talk about the fuel tank.. Anyone have a clue on this one?

Hi, I recently picked up a CX-7, and love it, but it has a few of the issues with it that these TSB's acknowledge. Yesterday I was able to click the links to the PDF's, but today, when I hit the hyperlinks, I can't pull them up, keeps saying can't be found. Just wondering if anyone could help me out and send me their copies of the PDF's for three TSB's...The Dirt accumulation due to door sills, the front upper door sill is wrinkled one, and finally the engine hesitation/no power below 2000 rpm.

thanks so much!

Nick

Does anyone know where I can actually get this TSB? The above link doesn't work, even if you navigate directly to it.

The Canadian dealers like to pretend that these issues don't exist, so if I had something to show them it might help. This is one of the many problems I'm having with my CX-7.

Thanks!
