I. Production

(1) Domestic production
For 15 consecutive months since November 2005, domestic production volumes exceeded those of the same month in the previous year and are up 6.6% over January 2006. This increase was mainly due to the added production of CX-7 and CX-9 models and increased production of the Mazda3. Domestic production in January 2007 was the best January result in the last 14 years.

(2) Overseas production
The overseas production volume was up 5.3% over the same month last year, reflecting increased production of the Mazda3 and BT-50 pickup truck series.
On a country basis, production of Mazda vehicles in China reached 12,344 units, up 36.2% over January 2006, due to increased Mazda3 production.

Sales volumes of the Mazda2 and commercial vehicles were lower than the same month last year, but sales of the Mazda5 and Mazda3 were brisk and exceeded last year's results.

Mazda's registered vehicle market share was 7.0%, up 0.1 points over January 2006, with a 3.5% market share of the micro-mini segment (down 0.3 points) and a 5.7% total market share, down 0.1 points over the same month last year.

The gains were led by the added production of CX-7 and CX-9 models and increased production of the Mazda3. Exports were at their highest level in 14 years in January 2007. On a market basis, export of CX-7 and CX-9 models bound for North America, and Mazda3 and Mazda5s for Europe, were particularly healthy.
