Technically speaking, everything works, even the A/C.
There was a trick to the flickering light. If it starts acting up, I had to turn the fan speed up to 4 and back to where I wanted it set. Problem solved! To be honest, I'm not much of an A/C person so I didn't care so much that my car was sending morse code through the A/C light.

this is exactly what i have to do on mine, and the reason mazda redesigned the part
