First long trip MPG

Just took our first trip in the 5. Over 1,674 miles it averaged 30.31 MPG. Low of 27.7mpg @ 75-80mph AC on, high of 34.97mpg @ 60-62mph (55 speed limit) no AC. Better than I thought it'd get. Don't think the 34.97 was right,The pump didn't seem to want to fill the tank completely. The next tank was 30.6 even though we drove the same. Except for the last tank I drove VERY easy trying to see what kind of mileage we'd get.

1. 313 miles 10.757 gallons=29.09, 68-69mph AC on, freeway
2. 238 miles 6.805 gallon= 34.97, 61-62mph
3. 170 miles 5.554 gallons= 30.60 61-62mph
4. 185 miles 6.157 gallons= 30.04 50-60mph rural driving
5. 177.7 miles 5.733 gallons= 30.99 same as above
6. 271 miles 8.570 gallons= 31.62 60-65mph no AC
7. 320 miles 11.523 gallons= 27.77 75-80+mph

LOTSA bugs on the way back, ran through a swarm for about 5 miles. My 7 year old said "daddy it's raining, turn the wipers on" (see the pic!, was actually worse than it looks!)

That's quite possibly the most repulsive thing I've seenin my life! (blarf)

That's AMAZING gas mileage, consistent 30! That goes along with Motorweek's gas mileage results. Do you have a 5MT or 4AT?

I see a clay bar in your future (shocked)

Definitly need to get the clay bar. It makes removing the bug jerky so easy it is almost scary. Wash first, then use the clay bar with whatever instant detailer they sell with the bar, and watch the jerky disappear. Make sure to rewax afterwards because the clay removes the wax as well as the jerky.

That's pretty similar to the mileage we get on highway trips as well. Yours might be ever so slightly higher, but it's pretty much the same. It's a nice surprise compared to the window sticker!

Sweet ratings on your trip...BTW put your 5 outside on a hot morning and let the bugs warm up. Now you can wash em off just as easy as they got on there in the first place... oh ya it smells like crap
