Same block, but I believe the cams and other things are different, and you won't find a Laser in the U.S.

Ford Laser was in Aussieland. From 91 to 94 it had the BP 1.8 Liter motor as three kinds FWD 1.8 with 130 HP the GTX rated @ 180HP FWD and the GTR which is hard to find 210HP all wheel drive. Shared the motor with the oringal 323 hatch.

I think the 2003 to 2006 does have the FS motor maybe twilight can answer this since he lives in Aussie land. AKA down under.....

FP 1.8 from 99 onwards, and FS 2.0 in 01+ SR2 Lasers, which is basically a ford badged P5/SP20 that doesnt look as nice. BTW i think something called a ford tierra had it aswell which i think is the same as a protege underneath.

it looks A LOT like a focus in the front.......and those cars BLOW! just my .02
