thermostat

a stupid question I'm sure.. but is the thermo on the p5 located on the top or bottom radiator hose?

I've looked at a couple different guides, and seen both listed.. the diagram in the service manual linked in the sticky shows what appears to be the lower one, where it connects near the belts.. but others I've seen show it on the top above the tranny next to the filter..

trying to resolve an overheating issue, thanks,

Kyle

ignore that.. I figured it out soon after that post.

However, I'm still overheating badly.. I have a feeling I put the sealing gasket on backwards which is not letting it seal... however, if not.. I have no idea what the problem is.. other than perhaps a dead radiator.

how would I check that?

I'm trying to eliminate possibilites here.. I really don't want to have to buy a new radiator.

I've installed the new thermo, double checked everything, etc..

any tips would be greatly appreciated

Have you made sure both fans are operating correctly? Probably already checked that, but if not then make sure they are kicking on. Run the engine up with the radiator cap off to let it "burp".
