Changing timing belt

*Why* wait until the rainy night 90 miles from home to get a tow truck and try to schedule another car/time to do it yourself? Scheduled maintenance is better than unscheduled. Pick a time that is good for YOU. Then do it.

It will never be any cheaper...

Check the tensioner very well, mine "went bad" 2 hours after the dealer did mine ($375 w/new acc drive belts too). I had to fight them because they wanted to charge me full labor, I offered to pay for the part only. They eventually caved and said "free labor," then the bastards charged me full boat for the part (around $220). Difference between the average "Factory Trained Mazda Technician" and the kid at McDonalds: one of them wears a paper hat.
