Scraping on top of rear(hatch) door

Does any one have this problem? On the right top side of the hatch door where the hinge is, a small area at the edge where the door scrapes the body of the car. I dont know how to explain it. i'll try getting pictures. It's scraped off the paint and has rusted a little

Was it ever replaced/repaired where it wasn't put back on with the clearance it needed? Not heard of anyone else having that. Just sounds like it isn't aligned correctly. Careful, if you try to correct it where it doesn't rub the body then the seal may not keep air/rain out if indeed there was some damage at some point that was attempted to be repaired.

thats the weird thing, it's never been in any wreck. I bought it striaght from the dealer new. i'll try realigning it

There are two "bumpstops" at the lower edge of the hatch itself, look at them and try adjusting them by twisting them, maybe this will help.
