Using my awesome MS Paint skills I drew a picture to help ask my question. I was looking at a spare exhaust manifold for a 2.0l and noticed carbon deposits that are larger than the ports on the exhaust manifold. I was just wondering if this was because the head and the exhaust mani were poorly matched or is it because the gasket is just larger than both of the ports and its allowing carbon to get between the two. If anyone has a stock un ported head laying around could you please take 2 very rough measurements for me? I measured the stock exhaust mani ports at 1 13/16 x 1 1/8 at its widest points.
