'95 Protege - grinding when shifting from 1st to 2nd

I have a stock '95 Protege, 5 speed manual. I have noticed that when it is cold, it grinds when shifting between 1st and second. I even have the clutch pedal pushed all the way down. When it is warm it doesn't really do it. Master cylinder is full of fluid. Do these cars have adjustments on them? What should my repair plan be?

there are several possibilities
1) your shifter linkage is bent slightly, causing an improper angle between the shifter and transmission
2) your synchromesh is going bad
3) depending on how cold it is, your fluid may be less viscous, not lubricating properly

I have the same problem. I hope it's not the synchromesh but, I'm running out of options. A lighter transmision oil does help. High rev shifting is a b**** though.

I have the same problem with my 97 BP, but heck, let the car warm a little, it'll be okay (where I live, in winter, it often gets under -20C at night, one time -53C two winters ago... vive Montral!)
